Crestwood DWM Service Projects 2017-2018

Our circle groups give support to others through their interest in the following non-profit organizations listed below. At each circle meeting the service chair will notify members of the specific needs of that non-profit organization to be donated that month if they wish to help.

September – Dress for Success. The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

October – Greenhouse17.  Provides a safe environment for survivors and their children on a serene farm in the country giving them a chance to recover from domestic violence and reorganize their lives.

November/December – Christian Care Communities Adult Day Care Center.  A supportive and safe environment for older adults during the weekdays. It is our largest project of the year, with gifts being donated in November in preparation for their early December Christmas party. There will not be a separate project for December.

January – Ronald McDonald House.  Provides housing and support to families whose children are patients at the U.K. Children’s Hospital.

February – The Nest. Center for women, children, and families provides a safe place for education, counseling, and support to children and families in crisis. Their programs focus on the prevention of physical and sexual abuse, neglect of children, and the stabilization of the family unit.

March – Saint James Place. Provides safe, clean, and affordable housing for the working homeless and recovering homeless victims.

April – Hope Lodge.  The American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge not only provides patients with a place to stay, but also offers a supportive and safe environment where patients can focus on wellness. We will collect food items and ask for volunteers from each circle to serve a meal together at the lodge.

May – Circles’ Choice. Each circle is invited to donate to the service organization of their choice.

Offerings and Pledges

Women of the church contribute personally to support the work of the Disciples Women through pledges and offerings received as part of the study/worship time.

Blessing Box Offerings

The Blessing Box is a special gift a Disciples Woman makes in response to the blessings that God has given.

Every time a woman receives a blessing, she is encouraged to drop a coin in her Blessing Box. Our offering is combined with Blessing Box offerings from Disciples Women throughout the world to support mission programs of the denomination.

Blessing Box offerings are collected during the March circle meetings, to be presented in a special Love Gift offering during the DWM Spring Conferences held annually in Kentucky.
